Dynamic Reeds exclusively makes bassoon reeds of its own design from start to finish. While most of the reed-making process is performed by hand, Dynamic Reeds' custom-designed gouger and profiler are employed for critical cane processing steps. Unlike traditional contour profilers, which have adjustments at only two points along the profile, this custom-designed profiler is adjustable at ten points and has allowed Dynamic Reeds to experiment with many profile contours that would be prohibitively expensive for many other reed-makers. The custom-designed profiler therefore yields balanced, responsive reeds that play from the moment the tip is cut open. Reeds are finished to cultivate this balanced response and are sorted into two grades—Advanced and Student—based on how well they respond to variations in dynamics, articulation, and intonation over the range of the instrument. Prices are low because reeds are sold directly from the reed-making to the bassoonist. Worldwide shipping is available.
